Ned Scheetz founded Aphelion Capital® LLC in 2005. Prior to forming Aphelion Ned was a partner and managing director with Piper Jaffray Ventures (PJV) for nearly eight years. While at PJV Ned focused on investments in emerging medical technology companies. Ned joined PJV from Janus Capital where he was a senior research analyst covering medical technology. Ned is an active Board member of OrthoScan, Surgiquest, Thermics,VasoNova and Chairman of Vitruvian Orthopaedics. He has served on the boards of Altiva, Axya Medical, Broncus Technologies, Eunoe, Insound Medical, Solarant, and Suros Surgical and made private investments in Alsius, Angioguard, Asthmatx, Biolucent, BioSET, CoApt, Fox Hollow Technologies, Insulet and Juva Medical. Ned graduated from Colby College and Duke University's Fuqua School of Business and was a post graduate scholar at Oxford University. Mr. Scheetz is also an Advisory Board Member with the Center for Medical Device Innovation and on the Business Advisory Board of The Epilepsy Therapy Development Project. He holds the CFA designation and is a board member of the YMCA’s of San Francisco.

Lynn Pieper joined Aphelion Capital®, LLC at the end of 2005 as a founder and Managing Director. She was most recently a partner at Thomas Weisel Partners LLC where she established the Medical Device Equity Research product as part of the healthcare team in 2001. As a partner at Thomas Weisel Partners, Lynn has established the medical device platform as one of the preeminent franchises on Wall Street, focusing on deep industry research and high quality emerging growth opportunities within medical technology. Thomas Weisel Partners has been part of the underwriting team for several medical device IPOs during Lynn’s tenure at the firm, including TheraSense, Animas, NuVsive, ev3, AtriCure and Fox Hollow Technologies. Lynn has authored industry reports on several subsectors including cardiology, diabetes, orthopedics, spinal surgery, and pain management. Lynn joined Thomas Weisel Partners from Adams, Harkness & Hill, where she was the Senior Research analyst covering the medical device industry. Before joining Adams Harkness, Lynn provided fixed income research as part of Andrew Carter & Co. Lynn holds the CFA designation and holds a Masters degree in Finance from Boston College Carroll School of Management. She graduated from University of Vermont with a degree in Environmental Science and Mathematics.
